Perth Symphony Orchestra presents Baroque by Candelight

Perth Symphony Orchestra presents:

Saturday 13 April 7.30pm

An illuminating concert set to warm the heart and soul

Known for their musical and dramatic surprises, Perth Symphony Orchestra presents an evening of stunning Baroque music by Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, Telemann and Neruda, played by the critically acclaimed Perth Chamber Orchestra in a fully narrated concert.
The music includes popular favourites from the Baroque era as well as lesser-known works, to inspire the audience to explore more music of this era.
Local children will be cast to provide the narration and tell the stories of the composers, bringing the great masters to life, introducing each piece and providing rich stories behind the music. Soloists will perform stunning pieces to showcase the outstanding talent we have here in Western Australia. A musical, historical and spiritual journey for audience members.

“The audience will be in for a special treat as the children take to the stage to re-enact and recount what it was like to be living in those times,” said Bourby Webster, Founder, CEO and visionary behind these conceptual concerts. “I want the audience to experience the music from a different perspective,” she said.

“For example, Vivaldi mainly wrote for a female orphanage run by nuns. It is believed that the orphans’ mothers included women from the Venetian opera chorus, and their fathers wealthy concert-goers!  Many of those baby girls turned out to be very gifted musicians when they grew up!” she said.“I guarantee the whole evening will be illuminating in more ways than one” she concluded.

Following a sell-out performance in August 2017 at St. George’s Cathedral, this concert transports patrons back in time, offering an unforgettable evening.
