The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry (M) – Fundraiser
Friday, 18 August, 2023 @ 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
This is a special Fundraising Screening for Margaret River Welcome, a local volunteer group working to support a refugee family to live in Margaret River.
The story of an unremarkable man who sets off on a remarkable journey, Harold (Jim Broadbent) lives a life without purpose until he learns an old friend is ill and vows that in walking across England to see her, his journey can keep her alive.
About Margaret River Welcome
The Margaret River Welcome team are delighted that you want to help them welcome a refugee family to Margaret River. Their aim is to make the family’s transition into this community as smooth and positive as possible.
They are a local volunteer group working within the Federal Government CRISP program (Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Pilot) in partnership with CRSA (Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia).
The refugees in this program have been identified by the UNHCR as urgent cases for resettlement, with no family ties or connections in Australia.
Money raised will be used to provide a range of practical supports to the family as they face the realities of moving to a new country – including short-term accommodation, short-term financial assistance, furnishing a home and immediate health and transport needs.
