About Jazztrix Duo
Do you enjoy classic jazz? Enjoy Jazztrix Duo at Young at Heart on Monday 29th of April. Trumper, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist David Rastrick is joined by guitarist extraordinaire Kevin McDonald for a morning of music. Jazzrtrix Duo will play a selection of jazz classics you know and love, plus some scintillating original jazz songs by David Rastrick. Classics include Nature Boy by Nat King Cole, Georgia on my Mind by Hoagy Carmichael, and What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. Original compositions include Swingin’ from the Trees – written for WA’s Old-Growth Forests, Carnival of Lunacy – penned after some time in the Lunar Circus, and Balingup Blues – dedicated to Balingup’s Fantastic Fungi! David and Kevin have performed together for over ten years, including opening many Leeuwin Concerts for acts like Carole King, James Taylor, James Morrison and Diana Krall. You’ll hear David’s quirky vocals, bluesy trumpet, mellow flugelhorn complemented by Kevin’s guitar wizardry. You’re welcome to sing along with the tunes you know, and even those you don’t!
About Young@HEART
The Young@HEART music program is held at Margaret River HEART every Monday morning from 10am to 11am. The program does not run on public holidays or when there is another major event in the foyer.
The initiative was developed to safely encourage participation in the arts among older residents (over 60s) during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Due to high interest, the free performances have since been opened to people of all ages. Nonetheless, the senior demographic still makes up the majority of the audience.
Young@Heart is broadcast live on Radio Margaret River.
