Sunday Sundowner in Augusta
Sunday, January 19 @ 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
The Arts Margaret River Sundowners are an annual series of free family concerts that are well loved and well attended.
The Sundowners support local musicians and enable Arts Margaret River to give back to our community, and for the community to be exposed to differing music styles. Importantly, it enables low income families within the district the opportunity to attend a concert as a family group. Friends and family, some comprising four generations, gather with their picnic on the lawn and delight in the location, ambience and music.
Boodji Creek
Boodji Creek are an acoustic band joining musicians from Witchcliffe and Capel in their shared love of Americana, Oldtime and Bluegrass music. The band is comprised of Dal Taylor on double bass, James Taylor on mandolin and dobro, Jennifer Mills on guitar, Karien Rollinger on mandolin and fiddle and George Spargo on guitar and banjo. The band is particularly captivating in their strong blend of rich harmonies. Be prepared to hear a diverse repertoire of traditional and contemporary American folk and bluegrass songs, along with the lonesome sound of a sentimental waltz through to fast driving fiddle tunes. Boodji Creek are sure to get your feet tapping!
River Bugs
“Come and channel your inner 60s vibe as we showcase the music of a most iconic lady: Dusty Springfield. We’ll be playing some her most famous tunes as well as some 60s all time favourites. Do you remember ‘I only want be with you’, ‘Spooky’, ‘Wishin’ and Hopin’’, ‘Son of a preacher man’ ‘Rescue me’ and more? So tease out that beehive, dust off those vintage duds and don’t be shy with the eyeliner! Let’s get Dusty!”
“I think I enjoy these concerts even more than going to the big Leeuwin Concerts. The Sundowners really are for the community to enjoy.”
