Donated Works (Exhibition)

This display brings together historical artworks that celebrate connection — between people, place and shared creative practice — grounded in the Margaret River community.
Central to the exhibition are three community-driven works by Britta Sorensen. Sorensen’s practice is shaped through collective participation, transforming everyday gestures into reflections on generosity, care and commitment. Her works invite us to consider how small acts of engagement contribute to the strength and resilience of community life.
Displayed alongside these is a work by Jacky Cheng, developed during her residency with the Margaret River Makers as part of SPACED’s Rural Utopias project. Cheng’s practice explores cultural identity, memory and belonging, responding to local histories and relationships through material and story. Her work reflects the layered narratives that shape our understanding of place.
All works in this exhibition were donated to the Margaret River community, contributing to a shared cultural legacy. The exhibition offers a space for reflection, dialogue and connection through art.
