Acquiescence and the Window of Tolerance
Tuesday, February 13 @ 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Chalk and Charcoal Drawings by Marelize Landman
February 12 to March 15. Mon-Fri. 10am-4pm.
Exhibition Launch: Friday, February 16, 6-8pm.
This collection tells the story of a pass the parcel process, a relay between victim, perpetrator, predator, and prey. The contagion of mistreatment where actions and words create symptoms that are hurting wounds of scarred self-worth, and tampered confidence.
It gives us a glimpse into the Window of Tolerance, where one can effectively cope with and manage your emotions.
The artist touches on themes of emotional regulation, resilience, trauma, anxiety and the triggers and glimmers of daily life.
A personal journey of stumble blocks and stepping stones. The fight, flight and freeze response as opposed to the ideal of Ventral Vagal Calm, by finding equilibrium and balance. The sheep features as a metaphor and expression of inner conflict and resolution.
