Young @ HEART – Olive Mae

Monday, 29 May, 2023 @ 10:00 AM 11:00 AM

Olive mae

About Olive Mae

Recently nominated for two WA ‘Song of the Year’ awards, local musician Olive Mae is a folk/country singer songwriter.

Her musical journey started when she brought a tiny violin home from school when she was five years old, and she has been playing music ever since. She taught herself guitar at age 18 after being inspired by artists such as Frente, Paul Kelly, The Waifs and Missy Higgins and she started writing her own songs almost immediately. Soon after, she was performing regularly at local festivals and events in her hometown.

After taking a break from music to raise her two sons, she has recently come back to music with more enthusiasm than ever. She released two singles in 2022 and looks forward to releasing her EP in 2023 in conjunction with a six-month tour of the east coast with her family.

About Young@HEART

The Young@HEART music program is held at Margaret River HEART every Monday morning from 10am to 11am. The program does not run on public holidays or when there is another major event in the foyer.

The initiative was developed to safely encourage participation in the arts among older residents (over 60s) during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to high interest, the free performances have since been opened to people of all ages. Nonetheless, the senior demographic still makes up the majority of the audience.

Young@Heart is broadcast live on Radio Margaret River.
