Born in the small coastal town of Kirkcudbright (Pronounced “Kerr-coo-bree”; aka The Artists Town) in South-West Scotland, Moira was immersed in the Arts from an early age. This significantly influenced her education choices: she headed to Edinburgh where she gained diplomas in music and a Masters in Modern Languages. Moira then joined the Price Waterhouse London office where she trained as a Chartered Accountant, gaining experience across a broad range of sectors including financial services, manufacturing and education.

On qualifying as an accountant, she moved to EMI Music Group where she worked until emigrating to Australia (via South Africa) with her young family in 2005.

With a desire to have her children enjoy a similar rural upbringing to her own, the family moved to a small farm outside Margaret River; the reputation of the town as a wine and foodie paradise was also a significant drawcard!

Over the past two decades, Moira has volunteered and worked for a number of local organisations and businesses. She currently has a CFO role with a private family group and also assists her husband Guy with his farming venture, Margaret River’s first black truffle orchard.

As a firm believer in the Arts as a contributor to community wellbeing and cohesion, Moira joins the Arts Margaret River Board hoping her experience in finance and administration will help the organization continue to thrive and bring joy to the community it serves.
