Kat originally from Fremantle, moved to Margaret River in 2002 with her husband and two young children. Loving all aspects of the natural environment in the region and the availability of various arts and entertainment regularly on offer in Margaret River, it is the best of both worlds and a wonderful place to live.
In 2009 with more than 20 years of experience in hospitality management and catering, she decided to change direction and enrolled to study Urban & Regional Planning, graduating in 2015 majoring in Community Planning and Development. Since 2010,
Kat has been managing the award-winning Margaret River Farmers’ Market, a role that has been ever-changing and challenging. Always passionate about good food, community, and the environment, Kat believes ‘authentic’ Farmers’ Markets’ are truly sustainable ventures that are intrinsic to the overall well-being of a community.
She sees a bit of magic happen every Saturday morning. Kat has created other events around Margaret River such as the World Food Night Market, she especially enjoys bringing people together to celebrate and embrace the multicultural diverse nature of her community.
Since her youngest child reached high school, she left the school P&C (which she’d been treasurer for 9 years) and shifted her volunteering energies to her other passion; the arts, of all genres, visual, literature & performance. Kat is grateful for the opportunity to have volunteered for the Arts MR team for the previous eight years, she’s learnt a lot and experience incredible world-class performances in doing so.
Now on the Arts MR board, she is enthusiastic about being part of the team that conceptualises the new direction of Arts MR and is looking forward to volunteering on the ground again soon.
