Bu is originally from Perth, and arrived in Margaret River in 2017 with her family via Darwin, Melbourne, Canberra, Dili and Port Vila. She trained initially in Environmental Science at Murdoch University; and then wandered off into law completing a Masters of South-East Asian Law and a PhD in Law on police development. An inability to stay away from study has her labouring through a qualification in Data Science.
Together with her husband Ingvar she manages a company focussed on design, evaluation, research and partnership brokering for international development programs in the Indo-Pacific region; usually working on governance, law and justice or ending violence against women programs. Prior to COVID this work entailed frequent travel but is for now, sadly, desk-based. Apart from travelling other interests include design, food production, abalone, native orchids, and Western Australian fiction.
She joined Arts Margaret River as a Board Member at the beginning of 2021 and is looking forward to making a contribution in her local community.
