Intervention in the natural landscape by human endeavour
After the 2011 November fires, Arts Margaret River was asked to be the custodians of money raised to facilitate the installation of a commemorative art installation at the MR Cultural Centre.
The aim was to remember the MR cultural Centre as the evacuation centre communication place.
The aim behind this was to honour the organisations and individuals who played a part in helping those, impacted by the fires and recognise Margaret River Cultural Centre as an important hub in the district.
Arts MR has accepted Ian Dowling’s 12 sculptural forms concept.
These forms will be arranged into the landscape between the CC and the Shire offices. Ian Dowling will be running 2 workshops to gain community input for some of the texture and symbolic pattern elements on his forms.
Ian will provide input and raw clay slabs in a 3 hour workshop at his studio – 41 Devon Drive, Margaret River.
The cost will be $10 and morning tea will be included
Booking can be made by contacting Arts MR on 9758 7316
