SUMMARY:Women & Art: Myths\, Legends and Goddesses (Exhibition)
DESCRIPTION:An exhibition by Cassi-Jo Davis and Miranda FreeMarch 18 – April 24. Mon-Fri\, 10am-4pmArtist Talk: April 20\, 11.30am\n\n\n\nCassi-Jo Davis is a textile artist from Bridgetown whose work explores the feminine connection to nature through personal stories and challenges faced by historical and contemporary women. She is fascinated with ancient folklore stories and symbolism of the feminine throughout history and from different cultures. She is inspired by Religious & Spiritual Art\, Art Nouveau\, Japanese Art\, the Pre-Raphaelites and Figurative artists. Cassi creates layered\, richly coloured and textured works using antique and recycled textiles\, paint and embroidery to create wall and wearable art that speak to the viewer on a deeply felt level.  \n\n\n\nMiranda Free is a representational painter from Nannup who usually works in oils but has a deep interest in learning and experimenting with a variety of media. Launching into a body of work featuring legendary women and goddesses important to the arts\, she is inspired by the work of Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh\, a member of the Art Nouveau group the ‘Glasgow Four’. Several of these works feature techniques pioneered by Mackintosh that involve using traditional gesso\, egg tempera and are embellished with semi-precious stones\, beads and shell. She is also including Art Nouveau inspired stained glass works and oil paintings typical of her usual practice\, in this exhibition. \n\n\n\nCassi’s and Miranda’s works resonate due to their shared inspirations and interest in highly patterned and floral surfaces. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPrint\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email

SUMMARY:My Life in Miniature (Exhibition)
DESCRIPTION:An Exhibition by Victoria Robertson\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFebruary 19-April 10. Mon-Fri. 10am-4pm\n\n\n\nBorn and raised in Amsterdam during the 60’s\, 70’s and 80’s in a highly artistic family\, I now live and work in the beautiful Southwest of WA. Blessed with the creative genes inherited from my Dutch graphic designer dad and my Australian illustrator/ artist mum\, I have made art for as long as I can remember. \n\n\n\nIn this exhibition I have highlighted some moments\, events and periods of time in my life that have made a deep impression and which have modelled me into who I am now. Having recently been diagnosed with ASD\, I look back on my extraordinary and fairly eccentric childhood and beyond\, and recognise how autism shaped my experiences; furthermore\, I have come to realise that my whole family of origin was living on the spectrum. \n\n\n\nIt is only in hindsight that we can hope to make some sense of the path that our life’s journey has taken up to this point. By working on these miniature settings\, I have aimed to bring some order in my life’s experiences and memories\, and to further understand what has been my underlying drive. The contrasts in the various moods of the pieces are a reflection of my bipolarity\, and provide the stark counterpoints that have influenced my life. \n\n\n\nI hope that observers of my work will find some aspects that resonate with them and help them to reflect on their own lives. \n\n\n\nArtist in Residence\n\n\n\nVictoria will be in residence every Monday\, Thursday and Friday 10am – 4pm. Excluding public holidays (when it will change to Tuesday/Thursday/Friday) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPrint\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email

The writers\, in no particular order\, are Heather Locke\, Linda McKellar\, Gillian Hayter\, Ian Baxter\, Lyn Serventy\, Dawn Ambrose\, Nada Ilian and Jo Jennings. \n\n\n\nFor the Young@Heart audience on March 30 each of these writers will present their own story… a very personal gift of sharing. \n\n\n\nAbout Young@HEART\n\n\n\nThe Young@HEART music program is held at Margaret River HEART every Monday morning from 10am to 11am. The program does not run on public holidays or when there is another major event in the foyer. \n\n\n\nThe initiative was developed to safely encourage participation in the arts among older residents (over 60s) during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.  \n\n\n\nDue to high interest\, the free performances have since been opened to people of all ages. Nonetheless\, the senior demographic still makes up the majority of the audience. \n\n\n\nVenue\n\n\n\nFoyer \n\n\n\nRun-Time\n\n\n\n60 minutes \n\n\n\nTicket Prices\n\n\n\nFree \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorkshop\, Children’s Activities\, Studio Theatre\, Visual Arts\, Workshop\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPrint\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email

Developing his skills mostly by ear rather than reading sheet music\, he enjoys learning well-known pieces and music from films. He is especially inspired by the soundtrack of Amélie\, composed by Yann Tiersen. He will also be performing a piece from the movie The Greatest Showman and a song by Tom Petty. Max loves playing the piano when no one is watching or listening so performing in front of a live audience for the first time is daunting\, but he is excited by the challenge. His sister Lili will be accompanying him on stage\, playing guitar and singing.

SUMMARY:Women & Art: Myths\, Legends and Goddesses (Exhibition Launch)
DESCRIPTION:An exhibition by Cassi-Jo Davis and Miranda FreeMarch 18 – April 24. Mon-Fri\, 10am-4pmExhibition Launch: March 19\, 6-8pm\n\n\n\nCassi-Jo Davis is a textile artist from Bridgetown whose work explores the feminine connection to nature through personal stories and challenges faced by historical and contemporary women. \n\n\n\nThe exhibition will be officially opened by Tamara Aurora from Enchanted Margaret River. Chrissy Maddison from Etheara Band will deliver a solo set evoking the Divine Feminine as a sonic soundscape to the Exhibition launch. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPrint\n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email
