SUMMARY:CATALPA: Flight to Freedom
DESCRIPTION:Presented by THEATRE 180\n\n\n\nDoors will open 60 minutes prior to the event\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuy Tickets\n\n\n\nFAB Club\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nTHEATRE 180 in collaboration with WA Museum tells the incredible true story of the greatest prison break in Australian history: the escape of six Irish Fenians from the fortress of Fremantle Prison in 1876 on board the American whaleship CATALPA. \n\n\n\nKnown as a living tomb\, Fremantle Prison was a place of hellish imprisonment and far from the green fields of Ireland and the land of birth for these freedom fighters seeking independence from centuries of crippling British rule. \n\n\n\nTwo years in the planning\, involving espionage\, secret letters\, undercover operatives who travelled from Boston to Western Australia to enact the plan\, a love affair\, a rescue ship masquerading as a whaleboat\, a desperate boat chase and the threat of war against the might of America – this story has all the hallmarks of a major Hollywood movie and all the heart of an Irish ballad. \n\n\n\nWith its sprawling storyline\, cast of thousands and epic landscapes from the high seas to 19th century Western Australia\, CATALPA: Flight to Freedom is the latest in THEATRE 180’s successful and immersive CinePlay genre. \n\n\n\nThe daring and audacious CATALPA rescue is a dramatic and gripping tale of hope and adventure not to be missed! \n\n\n\nScriptwriter: Stuart Halusz and Myles PollardDirector: Stuart HaluszCast: Myles Pollard\, Tadhg Lawrence\, Taran KnightVisual Designer: Josephine Hayes – Gneiss DesignSound Designer & Programmer: Amaru ZachariassenSound Consultant: Ben CollinsLighting Designer: Aaron StirkCostume Designer: Ingrid ZurzoloTheme Song Composer: Craig SkeltonTheme Song Vocalists: Tadhg LawrenceTheme Song Musicians: Ian Simpson\, Guitar/Banjo; Phil Waldron\, Bazouki; John Clare\, Bodhran; Chris Gibbs\, Electric Guitar; Josephine Hayes\, Fiddle; Fiona Doyle\, Irish Whistle; Craig Skelton\, Bass Guitar; Elliot Jebb\, DrumsStage Manager: Craig WilliamsAssistant Stage Manager: Aaron Stirk \n\n\n\nThe show will be followed by a Q&A. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFAB Club\n\n\n\nFABClub is a simple idea: premium theatre seats reserved for people who attend alone. SUMMARY:The 7 Stages of Grieving
DESCRIPTION:By Wesley Enoch and Deborah Mailman. A Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company production\n\n\n\nDoors open 60 minutes prior to the performance\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuy Tickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nThe 7 Stages of Grieving by Wesley Enoch and Deborah Mailman continues to ask vital and stirring questions of the way we tell stories and how we remember the past. \n\n\n\nTold by a single compelling narrator – ‘Everywoman’\, the play weaves together cultural knowledge\, memories\, and personal experiences to share a powerful story of Aboriginal Australia. On its premiere in 1995\, this play was a radical act of Aboriginal theatre-making. Thirty years later Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company presented a brand-new production of this classic of Australian theatre in its WA premiere – also the first time it had been presented by an Aboriginal Theatre Company. \n\n\n\nA woman stands alone on stage. Over one gripping hour\, she traces seven phases of Aboriginal history – Dreaming\, Invasion\, Genocide\, Protection\, Assimilation\, Self-Determination\, and Reconciliation. Mailman and Enoch’s script is a potent expression of resilience and survival\, as well as humour\, joy and strength.  This production is an engaging\, moving and ultimately empowering recognition of the loss of identity and Country and the will to fight back. \n\n\n\nArtist Credits\n\n\n\n\nPlaywrights Wesley Enoch and Deborah Mailman\n\n\n\nDirector Bobbi Henry\n\n\n\nCast Shontane Farmer\n\n\n\nSet & Costume Designer Charlotte Meagher\n\n\n\nAV Designer Emma Fishwick\n\n\n\nComposer & Sound Designer Rebecca Riggs-Bennett\n\n\n\nLighting Designer Kristie Smith\n\n\n\nMovement Director Janine Oxenham\n\n\n\nAudio Visual Consultant Steve Berrick\n\n\n\nStage Manager Scott McArdle\n\n\n\nTour Manager Troy Williams\n\n\n\nCommunity Engagement Coordinator Denice Kickett\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFAB Club\n\n\n\nFABClub is a simple idea: premium theatre seats reserved for people who attend alone.
