Young@HEART – Brook Turner

The didgeridoo is my primary instrument, but I am also a storyteller and cultural presenter.
I follow the theme of storytelling through Songline by way of explaining how it works within culture and of how we all live within our own Songline today. I will open with Didj, both to acknowledge country and to settle the space.
I have performed in public and private forums for over 25 years, locally and abroad. I have also had the privilege of opening the West Australian Circus Festival in Karridale with Acknowledgement to Country for the past 14 years. I conduct regular Cultural presentations with school groups both locally and in Perth.
About Young@HEART
The Young@HEART music program is held at Margaret River HEART every Monday morning from 10am to 11am. The program does not run on public holidays or when there is another major event in the foyer.
The initiative was developed to safely encourage participation in the arts among older residents (over 60s) during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Due to high interest, the free performances have since been opened to people of all ages. Nonetheless, the senior demographic still makes up the majority of the audience.
