Raven started as a collaboration between Ray Risdon and David Webster in the early 2020s. Recently, we have invited Erin Robertson to join us.
Both Ray and David worked in the education sector, Ray as a music teacher and David in Vocational education. Erin works in the medical profession.
Ray has played his music in pubs, bars and social events in the Bunbury area, he has a tenor voice, plays Mandolin and Keyboards. He directs the music and writes the sequencing.
David’s musical background is in the more classical genre, he sang with WASO chorus for twelve years and sings locally with various musical groups and choirs, he is a baritone and plays acoustic electric guitar.
Erin had formal musical training in her earlier years and has recently begun to explore other musical options. Erin sings and plays violin and guitar.
Raven play the songs they like, including many Australian classics, and a range of assorted songs from Johnny Cash and Joni Mitchell to the Beatles. They mainly play at parties and sundowners and are available for interesting gigs.
The Young@HEART music program is held at Margaret River HEART every Monday morning from 10am to 11am. The program does not run on public holidays or when there is another major event in the foyer.
The initiative was developed to safely encourage participation in the arts among older residents (over 60s) during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Due to high interest, the free performances have since been opened to people of all ages. Nonetheless, the senior demographic still makes up the majority of the audience.
Young@Heart is broadcast live on Radio Margaret River
