The Surfer (MA15+)

Fundraiser for Creative Corner

Thursday, May 22 @ 7:00 PM 8:45 PM

Join Creative Corner for a fundraiser and experience The Surfer — A Cinematic Thriller Like No Other!

Doors Open: 6pm
Q&A Panel Session and Screening: 7pm

In the psychological thriller directed by Lorcan Finnegan, a man (Nicolas Cage) returns to the idyllic beach of his childhood to surf with his son.

But his desire to hit the waves is thwarted by a group of locals whose mantra is “don’t live here, don’t surf here.” Humiliated and angry, the man is drawn into a conflict that keeps rising in concert with the punishing heat of the summer and pushes him to his breaking point.

Shot in Yallingup in Western Australia, The Surfer is “99 minutes of pure sun-beaten terror” (Collider).

Be part of a Q&A Panel Session that will include South West crew that worked on the film –

  • Chris Binns – On-set Locations and WSL Commentator
  • Shelby Shaw – First Assistant Production
  • Brooke Thomas – Assistant Production Co-ordinator
  • Otis North – The KID Surfer Double
  • David Dare Parker – Still Photographer

Did you spot the lizard? Also catch crumpet on the big screen – meet a legendary VID (Very Important Dragon) and a few of her friends from the team at Discover Deadly!

Get your tickets! This will be a sell-out as it is the only screening during the WSL Western Australia Margaret River Pro from 17 – 27 May 2025!

In partnership with Arts Margaret River and Creative Corner supported by Creative Tech Village.
