Sunday cinema – Wild Tales [R]

Sunday, 13 September, 2015 @ 6:00 PM

Wild tales

The hit of the  Spanish Film Festival and one of the most buzzed about films at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, Argentinean director Damián Szifrón’s third feature WILD TALES is a blackly comic anthology film, with six short films looped together under an arcing themed banner of vengeance.

A plane filled with passengers who have a connection to the same failed musician. A roadside diner waitress discovers that a boorish late-night customer is the man who ruined her life. A perfectly pitched road rage fantasy roars into life. A man takes revenge on Buenos Aires’ draconian parking regulations by staging a spectacular act of protest. A wealthy man attempts to convince his groundsman to take the rap for a crime he didn’t commit. A bride discovers that her new husband has been cheating on her, and takes him and the rest of their wedding down in a no-holds-barred display of potentially hospitalising emotion. Each story in this hilarious compendium is a cathartic exploration of the pressures of the modern day world, and together make for an experience unparalleled in sheer entertainment value.
