Hero cop Mal Toohey celebrates his death-defying raid on a drug lab with a night of hard-core partying. Driving drunk, Toohey hits a boy on a bike, leaving him comatose. Toohey denies any involvement in the accident, but when their superior lets Toohey off without questioning, rookie officer Jim Melic launches an investigation of his own. As Melic gets closer both to the truth and the injured child’s mother, the guilt becomes more than Toohey can bear.
