SeamTogether
Presented by The Seamstresses
Monday, November 25 @ 2:40 PM – 3:20 PM
Meet Polly and Esther. Two unexpected modern-day superheroes, who travel the world in their menagerie gathering clothing and stories.
Session Times: 11:10am, 12:20pm, 1:30pm, 2.40pm
They are on a mission to seam together the old into the new and reduce the clothing footprint on our planet. Their menagerie is powered by you, fuelled by your stories and ‘Esme” the 80 year old crank sewing machine. With needle and thread at the ready, Polly and Esther travel all over the countryside including festivals, country fairs, parks, small towns, and the big smoke. This eccentric duo can pop up in the most unexpected of places, inviting all to enter into their haberdashery wonderland and share in its magic. The audience are invited to create, experience, share, and listen.
SeamTogether aims to create connections to our clothing and spark ideas of how to transform garments or fix them to give them new life. Part performance—part making space, SeamTogether fuses comic performance, audio stories and audience participation to create a hands-on experience for all ages.
The Seamstresses are performance duo Emma Che Raethke and Sarah Whitehead who create cross-disciplinary, interactive live performances that celebrate stories and promote social change.
