The Capes Cultural Canvas is an engaging hands-on cross curricula project delivered by Nature Conservation Margaret River.

November 29-December 13. Mon-Fri, 10am-4pm
Launch Event: Friday, November 29, 9.45am.

It has spanned across seven schools from Cowaramup to Augusta to develop connection, respect and understanding of place. Each school has adopted a coastal or bush reserve in their local area.

Students have learnt from Wadandi Elders and Traditional Custodians about the significance of their site and how to care for country. Classes have actively restored landscapes with volunteers by participating in planting, weeding and erosion control.

Six professional local artists have provided students with art workshops to interpret the cultural and ecological values and to creatively communicate to their peers, families, and communities the importance and value of their adopted spot. The final exhibition is the culmination of students learning and an opportunity for celebration of their outstanding work over the whole year.
