  • Mandy bamford

The awe-inspiring Boorna Waanginy: The Trees Speak returns to light up Kings Park in a celebration of growth and renewal as a part of EverNow Festival 2024.

We’re calling on the community to save their recycling and join us in a beautiful weaving activity whilst learning about the biodiversity of our environment and what we can do to care for it.

Bring the whole family and each make a woven art piece inspire by a nest, egg or seed. Your woven art piece will be collected and put on display as part of Boorna Waanginy: The Tree’s Speak in Kings Park from 4 – 7 October.

Special Guest: Mandy Bamford

Joining us at the workshop will be Ecologist and Science Communicator, Mandy Bamford. Mandy is part of the team working on Boorna Waanginy: The Trees Speak, providing expert advice and guidance on the portrayal of the plants, animals and habitats depicted in the projections.

Can’t make it on the day but want to get involved?

We would love to have any donations of 2L milk containers. Please drop them off at Margaret River HEART from Monday 9th September or bring along your bottles on the day. Alternatively, if you would like to make your own woven art piece at home, please contact info@evernow.com.au and we’ll supply you with what you need. (Note: Limited kits available).

About Mandy Bamford

Mandy grew up near the Swan River in Perth, watching the creatures that spilled over into the suburbs from urban swamps and bushland. As a child, family camping trips fuelled Mandy’s passion for nature. Mandy works as an ecologist and environmental communicator and is the ecological consultant for Boorna Waanginy The Trees Speak. Along with her husband Mike, Mandy runs Bamford Consulting Ecologists, a collaborative team of ecologists who specialise in wildlife research and science communication. Mandy is active in community organisations and is president of BirdLife Australia and the WA Gould League. Mandy is fascinated by vertebrate ecology, urban nature, biodiversity, waterbirds and wetlands, and the power of art to engage people with nature.
