Dr Lenore Lauman, retired Professor in History at. Murdoch University will be our guest speaker at Augusta’s Annual Dinner which marks the occasion of the arrival of the town’s first settlers in 1830.

The title of Lenore’s talk is     Valuing the Neighbourhood

She writes;

Our local community and immediate neighbourhood are for most of us central to life’s enjoyment and help give our life meaning and purpose. Their present and future are crucial to us and we work to protect them. But why worry about the past? After all, that’s dead and gone isn’t it? Does the past have any value?
