Join us for an enlightening event as we celebrate the launch of Climate and Life on Earth, the latest work by acclaimed Margaret River author and researcher Peter Lane.
From the very formation of our planet, climate has played a defining role in shaping ecosystems, driving evolution, and even causing mass extinctions. In his book, Lane explores the intricate relationship between climate and life—how living organisms have both adapted to and influenced Earth’s changing climate over time. By examining past climate shifts, he offers vital insights into the challenges we face today and what the future may hold.

About Peter Lane
Ever since the formation of our planet, changes to the climate, both global and local, have played a leading role in shaping ecosystems and in the evolution of species, including us, Homo sapiens. Changes to the climate have, at times, also caused the extinction of species on a truly massive scale.
Almost from the beginning, life, from microbes to giant redwoods and whales, has had a major impact on climate, as indeed it continues to do.
Pete’s book is about the causes and effects of the major as well as many of the more subtle and even local changes that have occurred to our planet’s climate. The history of climate and how past changes have affected life on Earth is important to understanding what is now happening and what the future may hold.
