Cultural Centre Management

Arts Margaret River welcomes the Augusta Margaret River Shire Council’s decision on 13 Nov to engage Arts Margaret River to manage the “MR Cultural and Business Events Centre” at least for the next three years.

With this relationship and the financial benefits it will bring now confirmed, we will continue building a bigger and better arts program for the whole Shire and surrounding areas.

Our new digital surround sound cinema, which began operating last week, is part of this.

In 2014 we have a full programme planned including 17 performing arts shows, 4 free family Sunday concerts, our annual Readers & Writers Festival including the short story competition and visual art competition and the children’s festival component, 12 Foyer Gallery art exhibitions and a Gardeners Day event. This programme will be added to by various organisations hiring the venue such as the Margaret River Theatre Group for 2 productions, local schools for concerts and events and a number of dance schools that use the auditorium for weekly classes and end of year concerts as well as many other users.
Arts Margaret River would not be able to offer the variety and number of events that we do without the support of our 100+ dedicated volunteers. From ushering, bar and kiosk sales to baking cakes and cleaning after events, our volunteers reflect our community’s involvement in the arts.

As part of a comprehensive performance-based contract with the Shire, Arts Margaret River will receive a ‘management fee’ of $230,000 per year for at least three years.
