The Cinéfest OZ film festival showcases extraordinary Australian and French films over five days in August each year.

Arts Margaret River has partnered with Cinéfest Oz since2011, bringing special school screenings, free documentaries, festival movies and a ‘red carpet’ premiere event to Margaret River.

Tickets to all screenings at the Margaret River Cultural Centre are available via the CinefestOz website and Arts Margaret River Box Office (located inside the Cultural Centre, open Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm).


Margaret River Premiere – THE BUTTERFLY TREE – Thursday 24 August @ 6pm

Margaret River’s premiere night begins with a VIP welcome reception at the Augusta Margaret River Shire foyer featuring locally made canapés, beverages and live music.

Mingle with filmmakers before taking the short walk to the Margaret River Cultural Centre to watch the WA Premiere of the [email protected] film The Butterfly Tree, followed by a filmmaker Q&A.

The Butterfly Tree – Synopsis:

Evelyn, a burlesque queen, bewitches single dad Al and his teenage son, Fin with her zest for life. When father and son discover they are competing for the affections of the same woman, old wounds are reopened over the death of Fin’s mother.

Through the vivacious Evelyn, Fin learns the power of forgiveness and relinquishes his goddess in return for a family. In this seductive and heart-warming story, both men will discover the power of selfless love.
